When late summer arrives and grasshoppers begin finding their way into the water, few flies outperform the Morrish Hopper. Designed by renowned fly tier Ken Morrish, this realistic foam hopper offers the perfect balance of buoyancy, durability, and lifelike profile. It lands softly, floats all day, and consistently fools even the wariest trout.

The Morrish Hopper is an excellent choice from mid summer through early fall when terrestrial insects become a major food source. Fish it tight to grassy banks, undercut edges, overhanging vegetation, or along cut banks where natural hoppers are most likely to fall into the water. It also makes an outstanding dry fly for a hopper dropper setup, supporting heavier nymphs while remaining highly visible on the surface.

Whether you're chasing wild brown trout in the Driftless Area, western rivers, or your favorite local stream, the Morrish Hopper is a proven producer that belongs in every terrestrial box.

Available in Tan/Pink, Brown/Purple, Brown/Tan, Olive/Chartreuse, and Tan/Yellow in sizes 8, 10, and 12, these color combinations allow you to match a variety of natural grasshoppers found throughout the season.

First Watch Fly Co. Pro Tip: Cast the Moorish Hopper close to grassy banks, under overhanging vegetation, and along cut banks. Don't be afraid to let it land with a noticeable "plop." Real grasshoppers rarely land gently, and that initial splash often triggers aggressive strikes. If fish don't take the dry, suspend your favorite nymph 18 to 30 inches below for one of the most productive trout rigs of late summer.

At First Watch Fly Co., every fly is selected because it catches fish, not because it catches anglers.
