About Keith Campbell

Keith Campbell is a lifelong angler, author, and former college professor whose journey through fly fishing has taken him from the rivers of Arkansas to the remote wilderness of Alaska. His connection to the White River began in 1959 when his father first took him there to learn the fundamentals of trout fishing. Though he later lived in neighboring states, the river remained a constant draw, shaping both his passion for the sport and his appreciation for wild places.
In 1986, during his first trip to Alaska, Keith felt a calling to something bigger. He eventually established residency, purchased five acres of land in the wilderness, and built a life immersed in the outdoors. His experiences included being dropped off alone by bush plane into remote country for extended camping and fishing adventures where preparation, awareness, and respect for wildlife were essential. He also spent years driving back and forth to Alaska and worked as a fly-fishing guide on the renowned Kenai River.
Keith is the author of A Fly Fishing Life and Fly Fishing the White and Norfork Rivers, works that reflect not only technical expertise but a deep reverence for the rivers and the life lessons they provide. Proceeds from A Fly Fishing Life are donated to The Call, a nonprofit organization dedicated to adoption and foster placement, supporting children and families in need.
Beyond his accomplishments on the water and in print, Keith has also been a personal influence. While teaching my children, he became more than an educator. He became a friend, a mentor, and a steady advocate encouraging the move into this business. His guidance, example, and belief in stewardship-centered fly fishing have played a meaningful role in shaping this path.
