When trout become selective, few flies can match the effectiveness of the JuJu Baetis. Originally developed to imitate the slender profile of Blue Winged Olive (Baetis) nymphs, this modern pattern has become a favorite among guides and competitive anglers for its realistic appearance and consistent fish catching ability.

Constructed with a slim body, subtle flash, and natural segmentation, the JuJu Baetis perfectly imitates one of the most abundant aquatic insects found in trout streams. Whether you're fishing the spring creeks of the Driftless Area, western tailwaters, or clear freestone rivers, this fly consistently produces trout throughout the year.

The JuJu Baetis shines during Blue Winged Olive hatches but is equally effective as a searching pattern when trout are feeding deep. Fish it under an indicator, as part of a euro nymph rig, or beneath a dry fly during emerging mayfly activity. Its natural profile and realistic movement make it one of the most dependable nymphs in any fly box.

Available in Tan, Brown, Olive, and Black in sizes 16, 18, 20, and 22, these color options allow you to match the most common Baetis nymphs and changing water conditions. Smaller sizes are particularly effective on pressured trout and technical waters where natural presentations are essential.

First Watch Fly Co. Pro Tip: Fish the JuJu Baetis deep through riffles, seams, and the heads of pools where Baetis nymphs naturally drift. During a Blue Winged Olive hatch, allow the fly to swing and slowly rise at the end of the drift to imitate an emerging nymph. Many of the largest trout feed just below the surface during this stage and will strike as the fly ascends.

At First Watch Fly Co., every fly is selected because it catches fish, not because it catches anglers.
